Explanation on Climate Change

Climate Change is an ongoing problem we are faced with, and it's because of us that it has become such a huge concern.Climate Change is caused by humans abusing the use of fossil fuels, there are many types of fossil fuels, but they all lead to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere, when they are being burnt. The gases which then are released trap heat in our atmosphere which can then have a range of negative effects on our ecosystem and environment ,this includes sea levels starting to rise, extreme weather affecting everyone globally, droughts in place that are usually dry or have hot or humid weather, these droughts will then get worse by leaving these places prone to wildfires.

Many people today do not seem to realize the major effects climate change has on us. One of the effects even happened and is still taking place in New Zealand, the fox glaciers have been melting away ever since 1970 and it’s predicted that by the end of the 20th century they will be gone,if we do not start changing the amount of fossil fuels used and start using more renewable energy like solar electricity.Due to the influx on ice caps melting, sea level starts to rise which then causes the natural phenomenon of increase in tsunamis, king tides, much higher storm surges and floods all these things will mainly affect tropical areas, not only will sea level rise affect tropical areas, but coastlines around the world will continue to move forward and occupy more and more space.

Climate change has also been associated with extreme weather conditions, such as hurricanes, immense heat waves, tornadoes and much more.Studies have shown that climate change had influenced Hurricane Harvey and the 2003 European heat wave. Not only can these extreme weather events events have fatal consequences, that then leads to quite a number of injuries or lives lost and waterborne disease, such as dermatitis(a type of eczema, that causes itchy rashes which sometimes has fluid come out of it when scratched)or conjunctivitis(pink eye).

Droughts have been and is one of the most known climate change effects. Warmer temperatures enhance the evaporation process and less precipitation would be taking place, crops could die, economic losses, conflicts due to the fact that there is not enough water, more people have higher risk of heat strokes, and overall there is a high chance of human lives being affected.Another main effect droughts have are wildfires, millions of forests acres and homes have been lost in these wildfires,an example of this is in Australia earlier in the year. Wildlife, people, and fluorescent forests  have been greatly affected in a negative way.

It may be concluded that climate change is definitely one of the world's first world problems and it starts with us to make a change.Climate Change is not something that should be overlooked, start by using more renewable energy and instead of using vehicles that use petrol, start riding bicycles or instead using one car take the bus, this small change could help us clear our atmosphere and we could make our environment much more sustainable to live in,because I’m sure we do not want to be wearing masks that connect to oxygen pumps, and carry that around everywhere we go,although that seems to be the case in the very near future if we do not act now.More than heatwaves: New report details biggest climate change ...

This week we learnt how to write explanations and this is my explanation on climate change

  1. Kia ora Shruthi. My name is Manu and I go to Otaki College. I like your post about climate change. I searched up photos of the Fox Glacier and it is sad how much it is melting.
